This gal took a selfie with the Pope, and people absolutely loved it

Rebecca O'Keeffe

What a legend!

So we all know that the Pope visited Ireland this weekend, right?

I mean, how could you not? Literally every road in Dublin was closed.

There were protests on the streets, a large number of unhappy people and a lot of media attention.

And while the visit didn’t sit well with many, at least we got a cheeky viral post out of it.

One girl who attended the Pope’s event in Croke Park was Alison Nevin.

The 12-year-old was queuing at the event to meet the man himself, when she pulled out her phone.

Alison took a selfie of herself and the Pope, and in fairness, he was good sport about it.

He smiled for the camera, in what was probably the best picture of the entire weekend.

Everyone in the crowd cheered when Alison took the snap, despite the ‘no selfie’ rule in place.

The photo was tweeted by Alison’s cousin, where it has received a remarkable amount of attention.

“Sooo.. My cousin Alison took a #selfie with the Pope. I probably would have dropped the camera but fair play to her she asked and she got it,” she wrote.

The picture has been liked more than 4,000 times, with hundreds of people talking about it.

Fair play to Alison for taking the selfie!
