The Duchess is also a regular swimmer, a keen skier and an avid tennis player and is said to favour antioxidant-rich smoothies over naughty snacks. When she's preparing for a holiday or a big event however, there's one move she prefers over all others.
The Duchess is said to favour the plank, a core exercise that activates muscles in the back, arms, shoulders, abs, glutes and hamstrings at once. Done correctly, the plank helps to sculpt the waistline and can even help improve your posture.
A royal insider told Daily Mail:
"Kate is an exercise junkie. Pippa and Kate take their toned physiques extremely seriously. And mother Carole, in her 60s, is in extremely good shape. It tightens her muscles. There are three elements, the basic plank, the side plank and the prone sky dive, all of which are positions Kate can hold for 45 seconds or longer and repeat at least ten times each."How to plank Lie on the floor on your front, then prop up your body in a push-up-like position, with your weight on your forearms, elbows, and toes. Keep your arms directly under your shoulders and hold your entire body in a straight line with your back completely flat (never arched or rounded). Hold the position for as long as possible, adding an extra 30 seconds to your plank as you get stronger.
