And viewers were left heartbroken when, in March, the roof caved in and killed Rana Habeeb on her wedding day to Kate Connor - although the person responsible hasn't been revealed just yet.
Now, it has been confirmed that Coronation Street will be airing a week of 9pm episodes later this month - which will confirm the identity of the villain once and for all.
The episodes kick off on May 27 and will be airing right after Britain's Got Talent's live shows.
According to The Sun, the episodes will also be focusing on the mental health of Carla Connor, who has been hospitalised against her will.
She went missing soon after the roof of the Underworld factory collapsed, feeling she was responsible for the tragedy.
A spokesperson confirmed that the identity of the villain will be revealed to viewers - although the rest of the Weatherfield residents will be waiting awhile.
They said:
"Following weeks of speculation, we are finally going to learn which local has blood on their hands. "Viewers will learn the truth, although the rest of the Street still has a little way to go before they clock on. It's a story that is going to run and run, and the outcome is not going to be cut and dried."
