This Love Actually Cutie Is ALL Grown Up (And Working As A Comedian)

Katie Mythen-Lynch

We all remember her as Karen and Harry’s daughter Daisy in the 2003 Christmas classic Love Actually, but thirteen (yes, thirteen) years later, Lulu Popplewell is all grown up… and keen to escape the character that made her famous.

She found fame in the British rom com for delivering a line about how she was playing the ‘first lobster’ in the school Christmas show. Now 26 and making her way on the stand-up comedy circuit, Popplewell is finding that people don’t forget a classic easily:

‘Every Christmas, people still bring Love Actually up to me and I get a bit awkward because I was such a small part in it,’ she told Digital Spy.

‘It’s become a joke. I clearly peaked age 11 and there aren’t many crustacean-based acting roles going these days – it’s a niche skill.’

Lulu said that while she’d love to return to the big screen, she’s finding the process a little more difficult than booking comedy gigs.

‘At least with stand-up you can just go and do an open mic, whereas you can’t really just sit in your room and give your best Lady Macbeth to the mirror. I mean you can, but it starts to annoy your housemates eventually, I find.’
