Mum has four nannies

Imagine.

Natalia Nikulina is a 37-year-old married, clinical social worker who has four nannies for her two children, a fact that the internet is freaking out over.

In a piece for the New York Post, Natalia explains how she has a weekday nanny, two nannies who work at the weekend and a fourth nanny who is ‘on call’.

Her typical working week consists of Monday to Friday, 9-5, and her husband also works full-time with their boys, aged two and three, at home with the nanny during these hours.

The family live in Brighton Beach in Brooklyn, New York and Natalia describe the ‘extra help’ her nannies provide as a ‘must’ similar to water and air.

Natalia said that having this help allows her to have ‘mental rest’ as they help out when she’s at home as well as providing childcare when she and her husband are working.

“I love my children, but I’m not embarrassed to say the nannies are not just to provide child care when I’m at work – they provide mental rest for me when I am at home as well”.

This mum isn’t along either, apparently, this is a common situation in New York with many families employing multiple nannies.

Noa Mintz of Nannies By Noa, a placement agency Nannies By Noa, commented on the growing trend of multiple nannies for one family.

In conversation with the publication, she said:

“Often families will choose a nanny who emphasizes structure for weekdays, and someone who is more easygoing for weekends. Families may have one nanny who will speak a second language, so that the children have that language immersion or a nanny who is an athlete so kids are active”.
