This Mum’s Leg Was Left Permanently Swollen After Her Pregnancy

Sharyn Hayden

We all worry about the extra weight we put on when we are pregnant, whether we like to admit it or not.

I tell every new mum I meet not to worry about it at all until their baby is at least one years old but I know that it’s easier said than done.

Even the most confident woman in the world still has those wobbly moments after babies are born when they think, ‘Is my body ever going to go back to normal?’

Well, amazing Australian mum and model Sarah Buller is dealing with something quite unique since her first pregnancy.

She experienced some swelling in her left leg when she was approximately three month’s pregnant and put it down to normal pregnancy swelling.

Doctors didn’t diagnose anything otherwise so she continued on throughout her pregnancy without thinking that she was in fact dealing with a medical issue called ‘Primary Lymphedema’.

Primary Lymphedema is a rare, inherited condition that causes swelling in the arms and legs due to blockage in the lymphatic system.

In Sarah’s case, the swelling that began during her pregnancy but didn’t go away after the baby was born, as she expected.

Sarah writes about her condition on her blog, The LymphosaurusRex, and has just undergone revolutionary micro-surgery to fix the problem.

She is absolutely gorgeous online as you can see if you visit her Instagram page, very intelligent, funny and is positively helping other women by detailing the help and surgeries available.

We hope this one is a success for her!
