Thousands lined the streets of Dublin today, taking a stand for women and protest Ireland’s abortion laws.
The theme for this year’s International Women’s Day is #BeBoldForChange
Gardaí were on hand to direct traffic which was disrupted by the march across the capital this lunchtime.

We were on the ground reporting from the event which saw men, women, young and old march from O’Connell street to Grafton Street waving banners and flags in support of amending the Irish constitution, including one that said “womb for improvement”

Today’s march was held to coincide with International Women’s Day.
This evening’s protest will start at the Garden of Remembrance and continue through the city centre to Leinster House.
A number of groups want the government to a name a date to hold a referendum on overturning our strict abortion laws.

Keep an eye on all our updates on the #StrikeForRepeal demonstration (catch us live on Facebook and see Twitter for updates), we thought this verse, sent to us by reader Brigid O’Dea was worth sharing;
“To the ladies making babies
And the ladies making money
The queen bees taking power
Soothing stings with soulful honey
To the hunz with the hairy knees
And galz with HD brows
Raising voices, making choices
Performing without bows
To the women misbehaving
Creating colour in the dust
Here’s to whispering, shouting, singing
And stomping when we’re hushed!”
