Nearly 700,000 families across Ireland are set to benefit from a double child benefit payment today.
The boost should offer some financial relief as the cost of living crisis continues to impact households.
This measure, introduced as part of Budget 2025, doubles the usual monthly child benefit payment from €140 per child to €280 per child.
The payment is automatic and requires no application, ensuring all eligible families receive the additional support seamlessly.
This is the second double child benefit payment issued this year, with the first distributed on November 5th.
These measures are part of the Government’s broader effort to combat child poverty and provide relief to struggling families.
In addition to the double child benefit payment, 1.3 million social welfare recipients will receive their Christmas bonus payment this month, providing further assistance during the holiday season.
