The weather is going to be horrible in parts of the country this week

Horrible weather on the way.

This will impact some places more than others with three counties included in the latest Status Yellow warning from Met Éireann. According to the national forecaster, Cork, Wexford and Waterford can expect heavy rainfall tomorrow. This particular warning comes into operation at 3 pm on Tuesday and is in place until 12 pm on Wednesday so if you're in any of those counties, you can expect the midweek morning commute to be tougher than usual. Up to 30mm of rain is expected with locally higher accumulations in upland and coastal areas and there's a risk of spot flooding too.

There will be rain in other parts of the country too but it doesn't look to be quite as bad with "scattered showers" expected in west Ulster and northwest Connacht tonight. Widespread frost and some icy stretches are expected too and there's a definite chill in the air as you may have noticed this morning. The wet and windy weather looks set to continue until Friday with "potentially stormy conditions" predicted. Although milder temperatures are expected on Thursday (10 to 13 degrees) it's likely to turn colder as the weekend approaches. You can check out the full forecast for the week ahead here.
