Time to break out the hot water bottles, it’s going to get VERY cold tonight

Better bundle up.

After a few on-again-off-again sunny days, it looks like the weather is going to take a turn tonight – with Met Éireann forecasters predicting it will hit 0C.

The day will start off cool, with mist and frost soon clearing and a dry day with some good sunny spells and temperatures hitting as high as 15C.

And on Friday night, it will be “mostly dry with good clear spells” – and a very chilly night.

According to forecasters, the temperatures will range from 5C all the way down to 0C – and could possibly go even lower in some areas of the country.

Which, after the on-again-off-again sunny spells of recent weeks, will definitely be a shock to the system.

The rest of the weekend is looking to be a mixed bag of weather – although it will be mildly warmer.

Saturday will start off as a mostly dry day with some sunny spells, before becoming cloudier in the west and northwest. There will be some patchy rain in the northwest by the evening, which will gradually spread southeastwards as the night goes on.

Temperatures will hit between 12C and 15C, according to forecasters, before dropping as low as 6C that night.

Sunday, meanwhile, will be a cloudy day with patchy light rain and drizzle, with some bright and sunny spells possibly developing later in the afternoon.

The temperatures will reach highs of 11C to 13C in some areas of the country.
