A 2-year-old child has tragically passed away after being electrocuted by a phone charger.

The young girl’s family has been left devastated by the harrowing death of their daughter, but want to share their story to help raise awareness.

Sara Alves de Albuquerque was rushed to hospital in Brazil after she put her hands on the charger.

Doctors did everything they could to save her life but sadly the young girl passed away.

The make and model of the phone and charger have not yet been disclosed.

Experts are now urging parents to always be prepared if their child does suffer from an electric shock.

Electric shock injuries can range from mild to fatal so it is always best to be prepared.

It occurs when an electric current flows through your body.

Mild shocks can cause issues like headaches, burns, muscle issues, and weakness.

However, some people may lose consciousness or even stop breathing.

More severe cases can cause seizures, cardiac arrest, brain damage, heart damage, and damage to other organs.

If someone has received an electric shock then the first thing to do is to cut off the source of the shock.

Unplug the source or separate the person from the source by using a non-metal object like a wooden brush.

Phone emergency services instantly and then start CPR on the person as you wait for them to arrive.
