Toddler dies following Phoenix Park hit and run

A child has died following a hit and run incident in Dublin’s Phoenix Park on bank holiday Monday.

A 24-year-old man has been arrested and Gardaí are appealing for witnesses after the two-year-old was struck by a vehicle on the North Road at 6.25pm yesterday.

The little girl, whose family are from Poland, was rushed to Temple Street Hospital in a serious condition but lost her fight for life overnight.

The driver is being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act at Cabra Garda Station.
