“If it had happened in another window of the apartment it would have been another story…”
A 2-year-old boy’s 4-storey fall was saved by a clothesline in Palma, Majorca.
Little Santino had been watching cartoons in his room when he moved the bedside table, got up on it and fell out his fourth-floor window.
His fall was saved when he hit the metal bar of a clothesline, directing him to a plastic net above another laundry-drying area.
From there, he bounced to the ground.
Neighbours heard a loud noise and the toddler’s screams and rushed out to find him sitting on the ground.
The net, which had been put up by a resident of the apartment block to stop neighbours’ laundry from falling into her window, cushioned the impact of the fall.
“It was a miracle,” the boy’s mother, Débora, told Ultima Hora on Wednesday.
She added that if he had fallen out a different window of their apartment, it “would have been another story.”
Santino only suffered several scratches, which he was treated for at Son Espases University Hospital.
