Tommy Bowe has a new career and we did not see it coming

He would be brilliant, we just didn't expect it.

Rugby star Tommy Bowe has joined the RTÉ One travel show, Getaways. He'll join the presenting team which already includes Mairead Ronan, Vogue Williams and Joe Lindsay for the new eight-part holiday series. He's had a hectic few months with the birth of his first child and an injury which saw the end of his Six Nations campaign and now he doesn't seem to be slowing down. For his first show, Tommy will be heading to Ibiza. Speaking about the new role, he said:

"I’m very excited to be part of the Getaways team this year. I was disappointed after my injury in the Six Nations but this gives me an opportunity to explore another avenue while preparing myself for next season. Being a part of a great series like Getaways is a dream come true for me and I’m looking forward to the new challenge."

Over the eight weeks Joe, Mairead, Vogue and Tommy will check out activities and attractions that viewers have recommended. The series will air in early 2018 on both RTÉ One and BBC One Northern Ireland.
