Top Gun 2 is officially happening with Tom Cruise on board

This the best news ever.

One of the best cult movies is making a come back. That's right, Top Gun 2 has officially been confirmed and the main man himself, Tom Cruise, is on board. It's been 31 years since the original movie and now we finally will get to see another installment. Tom Cruise was promoting his new movie The Mummy in Australia when he told the TV show Sunrise:

“It is definitely happening. “It’s true. It’s true. I’m going to start filming it probably in the next year. I know. It’s happening. It is definitely happening ... you’re the first people that I’ve said this to.”

We'd first heard about a possible reboot earlier this year when Jerry Bruckheimer tweeted about a meeting with Tom about the movie but now we're delighted to hear it's happening for definite.
