“Touching moment” – Prince William spotted in real dad mode last weekend

I don’t know about you, but ever since bingeing on The Crown, I always picture that when the royals eat dinner, they do so in a very fancy manner, around giant dark-wood tables in one of their many castles.

However, this, of course, is not the case at all – certainly when it comes to younger members of the royal family, who prefer their day-to-day lives to be far more casual and normal.

Such is the case with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

Last weekend, some royal fans had the pleasure of spotting the Cambridges enjoying a pub meal in Norfolk, where the family of five were seated at a bench outside a local pub tucking into burgers and chips and enjoying the glorious autumn weather.

According to The Sun, the royals, who spend a lot of time in Norfolk in their Anmer Hall residence, were dressed in casual clothes and ‘seemed just like any other family.’

What’s more, the royals had no protection officers with them so they could truly keep things down to earth.

“They had their pet dog, a spaniel with them, and they were all laughing. There was one particularly touching moment where one of the children got upset because their food was too hot,” a witness told The Sun.

“William was so fast to reassure them and sort them out. It was fantastic to see.”

Curry and Nando’s

William and Kate have in previous interviews and appearances expressed their preference when it comes to food – and it seems the future King and Queen of England share a taste for some of the nation’s favourite take-out dishes.

Back in 2017, the Duchess of Cambridge revealed to BBC Radio 1 that her favourite takeaway is “definitely” a curry, before adding that her husband isn’t the biggest fan of spicy food.

William, on the other hand, revealed in May 2020 that he was introduced to Nando’s Portuguese chicken by his police protection officer.

Speaking in the BBC documentary, Football, Prince William and Our Mental Health, the dad-of-three mused: “Everyone loves a Nando’s,” before adding that it had been a while since he had treated himself to a burger or pitta.

“In fact, the policeman who’s on with me again [today], he’s the one who gets me the Nando’s the whole time. It’s his fault.”

When it comes to cooking at home, though, it seems Kate is the Queen of the kitchen.

In 2016, the Duchess joked to a group of chefs that “William has to put up with my cooking most of the time,” but her husband fired back with, “It’s the reason I’m so skinny!”
