Broadcaster Tracy Clifford’s afternoon slot on 2FM is set to come to an end as the station unveils a refreshed daytime lineup.
“Tracy Clifford very much remains part of the RTÉ family, and details will be announced in due course,” RTÉ said in a statement.
Dan Healy, head of RTÉ 2FM, said: “Tracy has done a phenomenal job for the last 10 years on 2FM. I want to thank her and her team for the great radio show they have produced over that period.
“I’m incredibly proud of 2FM’s new schedule and the vision behind it. A huge amount of thought, research, creativity and collaboration has gone into shaping a line-up that feels fresh, engaging and truly reflective of the audiences we serve in Ireland.”
He went on to say that the new schedule is due to come in from May 5th and will feature a range of voices and perspectives that will “create a rich listening experience that feels both authentic and inclusive.”
Tracy also took to her own Instagram to announce her 2FM stint coming to an end.
She wrote: "After more than a decade, ' The Big Tune Afternoon’ with me, Tracy Clifford, is coming to an end over the next few weeks.
"We’ve had it all! The most incredible guests, amazing Studio 8 sessions, Panic! playing the best new Irish music, Ten Tune Tracy (my only talent)getting out on the road… I think we’ve been to every festival in Ireland at this stage! And let’s not forget the daily ribbing from Showbiz and Two-Foot Head D.O.B!
"But more than anything, it’s been about chatting to YOU, our listeners, every single afternoon.
"Being part of your 12–3 has been such a privilege, and something I’ll always be so proud of.
"But it’s also a job that asks a lot, professionally and personally…and I’ve been feeling a little nudge for a while now to try new things, and to give time to important things in my life that I haven’t been able to fully do before," she added.
She then went on to reassure her listeners that she will stay within the RTÉ family, writing: "I’m staying within the RTÉ radio family (more on that soon ) and I’m dipping a toe into telly!"
The revamped schedule will see 2FM Breakfast, hosted by Carl Mullan, Roz Purcell and Aisling Bonner, extended to 10 am. Doireann Garrihy will then take over with 2FM Morning until midday, followed by Demi Isaac and Mikey O’Reilly stepping into the afternoon slot with 2FM Afternoon, airing from 12 pm to 3 pm.
2FM Drive will see Katja Mia joining Laura Fox until 6 pm. Beta Da Silva will present an evening show featuring new projects and news, album breakdowns and a selection of music from across all genres.
“Informed by extensive listener research and shaped by what young audiences across Ireland say they want from radio today, the refreshed line-up reinforces 2FM’s position as the original and collective voice of young Ireland: real, spontaneous and always on form,” RTÉ said in a statement.
“The new schedule brings an even stronger focus on connection, sparking unique shared moments, lifting the day and inspiring a sense of belonging that drives everything 2FM aspires to be.”
Patricia Monahan, RTÉ’s director of audio, said the new schedule was “a central part of our ongoing focus on delivering more to audiences as we continue to implement RTÉ’s audio strategy”.
