Sharyn Hayden

Scottish parents Mervyn Scott and Sarah Aitken were last night being comforted by relatives following the deaths of their two-year-old twin sons Rhys and Shaun.

The boys have lost their lives after apparently falling into a garden pond yesterday morning.

According to the Fife Reporter, the Scottish Ambulance Service and Police were called to the family home at about 8.20am yesterday after the the two were found in what is thought to be a fish pond.

It is understood that the pond is in the garden at the side of the family home.

The boys were taken to the Victoria Hospital in nearby Kirkcaldy where they were pronounced dead.

It is as yet unclear how this tragedy unfolded or how the twins ended up in the water.

A Police Scotland spokesman said;

“Two male twins, aged two-years-old, had reportedly drowned in a fish pond and officers attended with the Scottish Ambulance Service.

“Officers are supporting the family at this time. Inquiries to establish the full circumstances are ongoing.”

We can’t imagine what this poor family are going through.
