Una Healy said there is still a stigma around being a single parent

Singer Una Healy has opened up about the reality of being a single parent.

Healy said she’s a ‘proud single mammy’ but believes there’s still a stigma surrounding it in Ireland.

In an interview with Rollercoaster, the mum-of-two revealed that she’s feeling hopeful about Ben Foden’s move to England.

She believes Ben’s move from America to England will “navigate things a lot easier.”

Speaking about co-parenting with her ex-husband Ben Foden, Una said their children’s happiness is their main priority.

She said: “We try and get on as best we can, which is great. Everything is all for the kids anyway. Once they’re happy!”

Her children, Aoife-Belle and Tadhg aren’t phased by their mum’s celebrity status. She said she’s just their mam, and that’s the way she wants things to be.

“I’m just mammy. They don’t care about any of that stuff. They just know that I’m at home minding them; I’m there for them, giving out to them. All of that, all these things that mammys do.”

Healy has often spoken out about how she’s a proud single parent and even has the title in her Instagram bio.

“I actually have it on my Instagram bio as well. Single mammy. Because I am, and I’m proud of it. There’s nothing easy about [being a single mammy]. Being a mammy is hard. Full stop.”

Una Healy previously opened up about Ben’s plans to return to the UK.

“I get on with Ben as best I can for the sake of the children. I want them to love him and for him to be there as much as he can for them. It’s unfortunate that he lives so far away.”

“We don’t have the ‘every other weekend’ set-up. He sees them at Christmas and in the summer. But Ben’s considering moving back to the UK and I really hope he does. It would be better for everyone,” she said.

Una said Ben’s move “would be better for everyone.”
