A dad who launched a public appeal to help find his son’s beloved stuffed monkey was rewarded last night when a family got in touch to say they’d found the toy.
Guilt-ridden dad Sebastian Hamilton took to the Internet after he managed to lose four-year-old Matthew’s backpack containing all his favourite trains; two of his dinosaurs; his headphones; and the tractor and trailer he just got from his cousins. Most important of all, however, was the little stuffed monkey Matthew adores.
He even promised to run this October’s Dublin marathon to raise money for the Nepal earthquake relief fund if the toy was found.
Now Sebastian is preparing to lace up his runners after a family got in touch to return the missing monkey. Posting an update on Facebook, the relieved dad said:
“As you can see from the picture, Monkey is safe and sound and being cared for by a very lovely family in North Dublin.
“It turns out the gentleman who found the bag in the T2 car park couldn’t find its owners and, unsure what to do, brought it home for safe keeping.
He added: “Our faith in humanity, the Internet and social media are all restored. St Anthony triumphs again! A small child is delighted beyond measure. And I’m fighting back tears. Right, where are those runners…?”
