The teddy bears from online retailer wish.com were described by UK trading standards as “one of the worst examples of unsafe toys”
It’s after a toddler was found with electrical wiring around her neck.
Now parents are being warned to be extremely careful when buying toys on the internet and to ensure that any toys they buy are sourced safely.
Moray Council in the UK reports says that the toddler was given the two light-up teddies to play with in her cot.
Later when her mum came to pick her up – she found that the little girl had opened the zip on the back and taken out a length of electrical cord which was also wrapped around her neck.
In addition, a large chunk of the loose stuffing from inside the bear was in the child’s mouth.
An inspection of the toys by trading standards officers found the electrical wiring and attached lights were easily accessible and were a strangulation hazard.
