'I'd rather be prepared for the worst'.

When taking kids to school, parents believe that they are leaving their children in a safe space.

However, after the increasing amount of mass shootings in the US, schools there are taking extra precautions to ensure the safety of their pupils.

A private school in the US is now selling bulletproof panels to keep children safe in case of a mass shooting.

The Florida Christian School in Miami is selling insertable panels in a bid to provide “another level of protection in the event of an active shooter”.

Head of security at the school defended the decision, saying it was just a precaution.

“It’s just a tool,” he told the Miami Herald.

“I’d rather be prepared for the worst than be stuck after saying, ‘Wow, I wish we would’ve done that’.

“We thought, yeah, let’s offer it to anyone who wants it. It’s not required.

“But it gives you extra peace of mind.”

The school has also advised children wear their bags on their chest to keep them protected.

The panels are available for purchase on the school’s website and are being sold for $120.
