Vatican Will Help Homeless Woman Who Gave Birth In St. Peter’s Square

The Pope has offered to help a homeless Romanian woman who gave birth to her baby in a cardboard box just yards from the Vatican yesterday.

The baby girl was born in freezing conditions at around 2.30am near a homeless services centre offering meals and showers to the growing homeless population in the area.

Italian policewoman, Maria Capone, helped deliver her, covering her with her jacket to keep her warm until an ambulance arrived.

“I think it was close to zero,” Capone told an Italian television station.

After her ordeal, the 35-year-old mother and her husband received a visit from Archbishop Konrad Krajewski, the head of Pope’s Francis’ charity office, who offered her 12 months of free accommodation in a Church-owned apartment.
