Vicky Phelan has shared an update after she returned home in October.

The CervicalCheck campaigner revealed she no longer wants to put her “body through torture”.

She said her current focus is on her quality of life and is currently feeling “very well”.

“I decided that I felt good and it was time to post an update. As you can see from my video update, I am doing really well at the moment,” Vicky shared.

She confirmed she has had her second dose of Pembro treatment on Monday. She said the only side effect she experienced was tiredness.

“I am doing really well. I made the decision to stop chemotherapy after my first dose on October 18.”

Vicky explained she was “horrendously ill for almost two full weeks”.

She is currently receiving palliative care.

“There is nothing else that can be done medically. And so, I decided that, for me, quality of life is far more important to me now than the quantity of life if the extra time that I might get means that I have to go through hell for 2-3 weeks every month,” the mum explained.

Vicky’s hope is to remain as stable and as well as possible for Christmas. She wants to be able to do the things that are important with her children “like shopping for clothes with my daughter, going to watch my son’s soccer matches, going for pizza”.

The campaigner praised the staff Mid-Western Cancer Centre at University Hospital Limerick, where Vicky is now being treated.

“Thank you to Áine, Mairead and porter Christy who really minded me. I really missed that when I was away in America,” she added.

Vicky also extended her thanks to her followers. She thanked her tribe “for thinking of me, for praying for me, for sending positive energy my way, and for worrying about me. I really really appreciate all your messages, comments, cards, gifts, flowers.”
