Teenage girl seriously injured in Co. Waterford road collision

A teenage girl has been seriously injured in a road traffic collision in Co. Waterford.

The young girl was rushed to Children’s Health Ireland in Temple Street.

She is currently receiving treatment for her injuries at the Dublin hospital. However, Gardaí confirmed her injuries are serious.

Gardaí in Waterford have now launched an investigation after the road accident.

It is believed the accident involved the young girl and a van, but the van driver was not injured.

The accident took place at 4.30 pm on Thursday, April 7th.

The young girl was hit by the van on the R671 at Ballymacarbry, Co Waterford.

A forensic examination is set to take place at the scene. The road will remain closed until it is completed, but local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are asking witnesses to come forward.

They’re particularly interested in speaking with anyone who may have footage of the incident.

Road users who were travelling on the R671 between 4.25 pm and 4.40 pm should contact Gardaí. Road users with dashcam footage should also reach out to Gardaí as soon as possible.
