You probably noticed this week took a bit of a plunge, temperature-wise.
After an almost unbearably mild October - seriously, weather, what jacket do you want me to put on?! - we can safely say that Winter is well and truly here.
With temperatures dropping to zero degrees in parts of the country already this week, leading to some wide-spread frost, some meteorologists are predicting that this November and December will be the coldest since 2010, and perhaps even the coldest on record.
The clip below shows the predicting upcoming cold fronts, one of which will envelope Ireland and the UK in a severe cold snap for a solid week in mid-to-late November.
Piers Corbyn, a forecaster for WeatherAction, told the Express that "Apart from some cold snaps the first half of November is looking relatively average for the time of year with some milder periods."
"However during the second half of the month there is a greater risk of things tuning much colder and this will bring a greater threat of snow. Scotland and the far north will get the coldest conditions with temperatures dipping possibly to -10C or below."
Ladbrokes have slashed their odds of a White Christmas in the UK from 2/1 to 5/6, while Paddy Power have the odds of it snowing on the big day in Dublin at 5/1, and Belfast at 4/1.
Meanwhile, in the more immediate future,
Met Eireann have stated that Thursday is set to be the coldest day of the week so far, with the addition of persistent rain hitting the majority of the country from Thursday right into the weekend.
