Out and about? We're set for some VERY mixed today and on Christmas Eve

Trying to get the last-minute bits done so you can relax tomorrow?

Today is traditionally one of the busiest of the year for shoppers – but make sure you bring a brolly with you if you’re heading out.

We’re set for a mixture of wet weather and dry sunny spells throughout the day.

Met Éireann forecasts that we’ll see scattered outbreaks of rain at first today.

It will become drier through the afternoon but is forecast to get rather misty and cloudy with most of the sunshine in the north.

Those in the south and southwest can expect more persistent rain later in the day, with temperatures of six or seven degrees in the north and 11 to 12 degrees in the south.

Tonight, the outbreaks of rain in the south and southwest are forecast to continue but it’ll be dry everywhere else. Mist and fog patches are expected.

Temperatures will dip to between -one and +two degrees in Ulster and north Connacht, between three and six degrees over central areas and between 6 and 9 degrees in the south.

The mist and fog will slowly clear tomorrow to leave a largely dry day in the east and northeast. Elsewhere it’ll be pretty cloudy with some patchy rain and drizzle.

The temperatures in the north will reach just three and six degrees but further south it will be milder with highs of seven to 11 degrees.
