Getting married? Or perhaps you’re going to a wedding (or five - they always come in groups). The question is: are the guests allowed to use their cameras and smartphones to take pictures?
Photographer Thomas Stewart is pleading with brides and grooms to have an “unplugged” wedding ceremony, as in one where guests aren’t allowed to take snaps with their various devices.
That’s because he was at a wedding recently trying to capture the moment the groom caught sight of his soon-to-be wife, but he couldn’t because the groom was having difficulty due to all the phones being held up.
Thomas’ Facebook post, in which he advises couples to ban technology from their special day, went viral over the weekend.
At the moment, the “rant” (as he calls it) has over 95,000 ‘likes’ and 65,000 shares.
While we are certainly guilty of taking pictures at weddings (we love rifling through them at the end of the day, commenting on all the outfits and often funny facial expressions), we have to say he does have a point.
After all, it is annoying when our friends are glued to their phones when we’re out for coffee never mind when we’re walking down the aisle..
