My mum wants to host her 60th birthday at my wedding- is she being selfish?

She isn’t happy with the current wedding plans.

One woman is facing quite a dilemma after her mum asked her to change her wedding date.

She explained that her wedding is on around the same time as her mum’s 60th birthday.

Instead of letting her daughter have her special day, the mum has made quite an extreme suggestion.

She believes they should combine both events and have a double celebration.

The bride-to-be explained that her mum thinks it is a fun idea.

However, we would be less than impressed.

“We would get the ceremony, she’d have the reception, and everyone would be happy.”

She admitted, “I just don’t understand how someone could even ask that.”

She added, “I understand the whole ‘no one cares as much about your wedding as you do, but this feels ridiculous.

“I feel like out of anyone other than my fiancé and I, my mum should be one of the people most excited, right?”

Naturally, the couple said no to her request because it is their special day and not something they should have to share.

However, the mum was really hurt when they said no, but surely the couple has a right to reject her proposal, right?

The woman confessed, “I will never understand her thinking, and I’m sure she’s going to bring it up again.”

“Or do something else to make my wedding day about her. It’s what she does best, after all.”

What would you do if your mum pulled a stunt like this?

Most Reddit users said she was being extremely self-centered and needed to remember it is her daughter’s special day.
