We’ve Just Found Another Reason to Love Starbucks

Starbucks is one of our favourite places to go – you may have noticed that we’re a little addicted to coffee – but we’ve just found another reason to love the brand.

According to The Huffington Post, the chain has signed up to a charity charter in the UK that aims to create a safe and supportive environment for breastfeeding mums.

The company is apparently the first to sign the ‘Parent Friendly Places Charter’ which was launched by the National Childbirth Trust.

The aim of the charter is to ensure that all parents feel comfortable when feeding their kids (be it breastfeeding, bottle-feeding or feeding them in a high chair).

Speaking about the project, vice president of operations at Starbucks, Rhys Illey, said: “We want all of our customers to have a good experience at Starbucks and we recognise that parents out on their own with very young children, sometimes for the first time, appreciate some support.

“Through working with NCT we have already refreshed our training and improved our facilities. We hope parents of young children visiting our stores will let us know, there and then, if there is anything we can do to improve their experience.”

As part of the charter, staff undergo a training programme and a sign is displayed in the store. While the charter is based in the UK, we would hope that the policy will be introduced in Starbucks everywhere.

Establishments all over the world seem to be taking steps to make parents feel more at ease when feeding their children. Did you hear about this Australian hotel offering free tea to breastfeeding and bottle-feeding mothers?
