A woman is facing trial in Italy because her housekeeping was deemed sub par by her husband.
Bizarrely, the accusation, ‘mistreatment of the family’, could land her a six-year prison sentence after a court in the town accepted the lawsuit.
According to the local newspaper Il Fatto Quotidiano, the 40-year-old woman’s attitude towards looking after her husband (47) had insulted him.
He also claims that food bought for the household went to waste because his wife’s poor cooking meant the food was thrown away instead of eaten.
In a further complaint, the husband claims his wife’s refusal to clean their home forced him to live in conditions of poor hygiene and that she threw him out of the marital bed two years ago.
We can’t say we’re surprised about the last one.
Mara Mattioli, of the Court of Latina, southeast of Rome, decided to send the woman for trial and the case will be heard on October 12.
