It’ll be a windy one this evening and the weekend is looking pretty unsettled too – reckon it could be one to spend snuggled up on the sofa with plenty of treats and your little ones!

Met Éireann has issued a status yellow wind warning for the country as mean speeds of between 50 and 60km/h are expected. Gusts could reach up to 110km/h in some parts.

The warning is in place until 9.00am on Friday morning but the unsettled weather will apparently continue into the weekend.

As well as the wind, get ready for heavy downpours throughout the day. These will become more scattered by this evening at which point temperatures will drop to between 4 and 8 degrees Celsius.

Friday is much of the same with strong winds and widespread showers, some of which will fall as hail. Top temperatures will be around 8 degrees Celsius.

It will turn cold tomorrow night with temperatures falling down to freezing, leaving Saturday as cold with a chance of wintry showers.

Sunday is expected to be fair as temperatures rise but rain will develop with moderate winds throughout the day.
