It’s a big day for this Tipperary parish.

Birdhill in Tipperary has been named as Ireland’s tidiest town for 2017, coming out ahead of 870 other towns and villages vying for this year’s title.

As well as winning the big prize, Birdhill – located on the N7 between Limerick and Nenagh – was also named as Ireland’s Tidiest Village.

Representatives for the town picked up a trophy and a cheque for €10,000 in Dublin on Monday.

Clonakilty in West Cork was named as Ireland’s Tidiest Small Town, while Ennis in Co. Clare was named as Ireland’s Tidiest Large Urban Centre.

Westport in Co. Mayo was named as Ireland’s Tidiest Large Town.
