Woman compares breastfeeding to peeing in public and just, no

Jade Hayden

Just, no.

There are certain things that you just can’t compare.

Going to work hungover and going to work fresh is one of them. Bringing a child to the zoo and brining 20 children to the zoo is another.

And so is breastfeeding and peeing in public – both of those just aren’t the same thing and they should not be compared as such. Full stop.

Unfortunately, not all people see things that way though and even more unfortunately, those people have been taking to popular daytime television shows to give their (wrong) opinions.

Great.

Two mothers, Natalie Forester and Chloe Hattersley, appeared on ITV’s This Morning earlier this year to say that they had been reprimanded for breastfeeding their children in a public pool.

Then, journalist Virginia Blackburn came on to say that she agreed with this decision as breastfeeding is “on a level with peeing in public.”

And we’re still not over it.

She said:

“It’s on a level with peeing in public, you have a path that leads to increasingly anti social behaviour and I’d say it’s on that path.”

“There are many natural bodily functions but we don’t do them in front of other people. It’s not about what’s legal or illegal it’s about consideration for other people.”

Yes Virginia, and clearly there was no consideration for Natalie and Chloe in this case.

Please keep telling us why a mother should be hidden away when her child is hungry because you find a boob offensive.
