A woman was forced into early labour yesterday after her boyfriend allegedly set her on fire.

Andrea Grinage was found by Maryland police late last night with serious burns covering most of her body.

She told police that her boyfriend had poured a flammable liquid over her body and set her on fire before fleeing.

The mum-of-two was brought to hospital where she delivered a baby girl seven weeks premature.

NBC Washington reports that Grinage also believed her boyfriend may have been on the way to Washington D.C to harm some of her other relatives.

Police spokesperson Jennifer Donelan has called Grinage “brave.”

“We want her family to know how brave she was, suffering as badly as she was, critically burned, worried about her unborn child, dealing with those injuries and was able to share that information with us so that we could get moving with our investigation and locate this person.”

Grinage’s father, Arthur, has since set up a GoFundMe page for his daughter.

On the page, he wrote that Andrea had suffered burns to 90 percent of her body as a result of domestic violence.

“Everything was lost in the fire and she must begin a new with your help. She has a long road to recovery and unknown medical cost. PLEASE stop domestic violence!!”

Police report that the suspect is in custody.
