A pregnant woman delivered her own baby in her car and then proceeded to drive herself to the hospital.

Shannon Guise was in the process of making her way to the hospital after she felt her waters break.

However, she had a lot less time than she had anticipated as she had to pull the car over, with her 17-month-old daughter in the backseat, and give birth there.

The mum told Fox 10 Pheonix:

“I had to pull over because I had a contraction that would not stop.

“I was involuntary, basically, pushing. The first time my body just pushed, I felt him go down.

“The next time, his head came out, and then I pushed two more times, and his shoulder and everything came out, and I was kind of just in shock. This is not happening to me. This is not happening to me.”

Once the baby was born, Shannon said she phoned emergency services who asked whether she needed an ambulance.

But, she said, she thought it would just be quicker to drive herself.

“They’re like ‘Do you need an ambulance? Are you going to keep going?’”

“Honestly, it would be quicker for me to just go.”

Baby Sebastian weighed 6 lbs, 11 ounces and he’s doing just fine.
