Woman gives birth to her twin sister’s baby

When Dawn Ardolino-Policastro’s identical twin sister Allison discovered she was unable to have another baby, the doctor had barely finished delivering the heartbreaking news before she had come up with a selfless solution.

As the oncologist gave his professional opinion (Allison had beaten breast cancer but her treatment left her unable to carry another baby) Dawn jumped in and said: ‘it doesn’t matter because I am going to carry their child.’

Now, with baby Hudson William Dinkelacker safely in the world since last week, a photo of the twin sisters, from Long Island, New York, has gone viral after thrilled mum Allison posted a touching tribute on her Facebook page:

“Dawn, you amaze me! You are my hero and I have never been more proud of you. You deserve a medal of courage, of compassion, and of selflessness.

How can we begin to thank you for the tremendous generosity and sacrifice you have so willingly bestowed these last few months? You have given us not just the fulfillment of a wish we’ve had for the last six years, but a whole new life, and a family of four we thought we’d never have.

We cannot thank you enough for the gift you have given us. Although biologically this child will be made up of the two of us, we certainly hope that the strength, selflessness, and power you have shown are traits that he takes from you during his life.”

Allison Rose of Allison Rose Photography shared these heartwarming images from the shoot, saying: ‘Allison was surprised by the gender but Dawn knew throughout the pregnancy that it was a boy. We had fun with this shot… Allison never saw the sign!”
