Just as we thought it was safe to start leaving our homes again without thermals, we get this news. Met Éireann has dealt the devastating blow that we can expect cold weather and wintry showers over this long weekend. Yes, the temperatures are set to plummet yet again this Easter weekend with rain and frost expected, with predictions of snow in places also. Met Éireann says a “cool, changeable regime is in store” with temperatures predicted to drop down as low at -2 on some days. The outlook for the coming days isn’t a pleasant read with plenty of rain and wind expected. Enjoy today because, from tomorrow, it’s all looking a little rough. Tuesday will see cold and blustery weather with occasional rain and hail. Wednesday sees the start of heavy showers and frost with temperatures predicted to drop to as low as -2 overnight. Frost and ice are expected to clear early Thursday morning with sunny spells developing, however, rain is still expected in parts of Munster and Leinster. While Friday we can expect some more bright spells, there will still be rain at times. As for the weekend, Met Éireann predictions so far look like this: "Present indications point to cool weather, with moderate northeast to northerly breezes. Some dry, bright spells each day, but cloudy periods too, with some passing showers. Cold at night, with frost in many places."
