Wrap up warm… snow is forecast in parts of Ireland today

HerFamily

The last 24 hours have been pretty wet and windy but it seems the weather isn’t going to let up over the coming days. In fact, it’s going to turn pretty cold which means you might need to add an extra layer or two to those little fingers and toes.

Met Éireann has warned that temperatures will drop this week bringing a chance of sleet or snow in certain parts.

The forecaster says that today will bring rain across the country. This will fall as sleet or snow in parts of Ulster with temperatures around 3 to 6 degrees Celsius.

A status yellow snow-ice warning is in place for Donegal with a chance of up to 3cm of snow. This is in place until midday today.

Tonight will turn colder with frost and rain in parts while tomorrow (Tuesday) will be milder with a mixture of scattered showers and dry spells. Temperatures will be around 12 degrees Celsius.

As for the rest of the week, from Wednesday onwards, it will become much colder. Temperatures are expected to drop midweek from around 12 degrees Celsius to 9 degrees Celsius and Wednesday night could see some areas fall to -1.

We’re shivering just thinking about it!
