The accident occurred in Co. Cork on Saturday morning.
A young boy is in a critical condition in hospital after he was struck by a car in Co. Cork.
According to reports, the young boy was cycling when he was hit by a car on Saturday, August 12th.
He was cycling his bike when a car hit him on Cork Road into Carrigaline at around 9.20 am.
Emergency services rushed to the scene following the incident but confirmed the boy is in critical condition.
According to
CorkBeo, he was taken to Cork University Hospital following the accident. However, he has since been transferred to Temple Street Hospital in Dublin.
A Garda investigation has been launched following the road accident. The scene was examined by the Garda Forensic Collision Investigators, but it has since reopened.
Gardaí in Cork are urging witnesses to come forward following the accident. They're particularly interested in speaking to road users who may have footage.
A spokesperson told
The Irish Mirror:
"A male child pedal cyclist, was seriously injured when a collision occurred between a car and the pedal cyclist.
"He was transferred from the scene to Cork University Hospital and has since been transferred to CHI at Temple Street.
They added, "He remains in critical condition."
