“Gone way too soon”: Tributes paid to boy killed in Mayo accident

A heartbreaking loss.

Tributes have been pouring in for teenager Zach Quinn who was killed in a tragic road accident on March 21st.

The 14-year-old died instantly after being hit by a truck on the R345 in Neale, Co. Mayo.

He was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Zach’s school led the tributes following his tragic passing.

Coláiste Muire Máthair stated:

“It is with huge sadness that we mourn the passing of second year student Zach Quinn following a traffic accident.

“Zach was a lovely lad who contributed greatly to the College community and will be dearly missed by his many friends. Attached is a letter from our principal Ms. Betty Hernon with some further information.

“Our sincere condolences are with Zach’s family and friends at this incredibly sad time. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.”

Another added, “Such a tragedy. Deepest sympathies to his family, friends and the school community.”

Loch Lurgan AC added, “A kind, fun, gentle soul, Zach was a fine runner, especially in cross country distance running. Zach was one of our first members to sign up to Loch Lurgan.

“He will be sadly missed by all our coaches and especially his friends in Loch Lurgan, of which he had many.”
