Cleaning pro shares four ingredients that will restore your ‘dingy’ towels back to white

Jody Coffey

Buying white towels feels like a good idea until they start to lose their colour.

It is beyond frustrating to purchase a set only to see them turn off-white and even grey over the course of time.

A full house doesn’t have to mean buying dark coloured towels to hide stains. One DIY guru and cleaning pro has shared her top tips for keeping those white towels ‘white forever’.

Nicole Jaques regularly shares her best cleaning tips to TikTok and none if them involve using bleach.

“Laundry series starts today and the number one question I get is how do I keep my whites white or how do I restore my whites back to their original white condition,” Nicole starts by saying in her TikTok video.

She pulls up her off-white and ‘dingy’ towels on to the screen and reassured that she had the best solution to see them restored to their former glory.

@itsnicolejaques Add one ingredient of your choice to the drum of your washer. Presoak: presoak dingy whites in a mixture of one gallon hot water and ½ cup borax or Dawn dish soap. Then launder your clothes as usual. #cleaningtip #fyp #cleaningtiktok ♬ original sound – Nicole Jaques

Nicole’s tried and tested ingredients for removing stains include a half a cup of lemon juice, vinegar, baking soda, and either hydrogen peroxide or Borax.

She advises that by adding just one of these ingredients into the wash cycle will guarantee fresh and bright white laundry ‘forever’.

If you have an items that are gone behind the pale when it comes to washing them, fear not, they can be saved, Nicole says.

“When I need to go double duty, I don’t pick up the Clorox. I do half a cup of Borax and a half a cup of vinegar and that’ll do the trick.”

The cleaning pro also recommends pre-soaking off-white clothing items in a half cup of Borax or dish soap and a gallon of hot water.

You have to admit, there’s no denying the results.
