Recent adopters include Robbie Williams, who had a toy bear etched into his arm in honour of his daughter Theodora (Teddy).
And last week Kanye West joined the inked Daddyhood, showing off the birth date of his daughter North West in Roman numerals on his wrist.
Now Ryan Gosling has followed suit, hitting the town this week with the letters E S M E (short for Esmeralda, his baby girl with actress Eva Mendes) roughly tattooed across his handsome knuckles.
The trend has long been popular in Ireland, with new mamas and dadas marking special dates and names in ink everywhere from their fingers to their forearms. Our advice?
