Families Face €100 Hike In Phone And Broadband Bills

Katie Mythen-Lynch

Families across Ireland could see their bills for phone calls and broadband increase by up to €100 per year, as Eir introduce a price hike for bundles.

At least 360,000 customers who avail of Eir’s services will be affected by the 9.4 per cent hike, swelling bills by up to €8 more per month.

Customers who are about to be shelling out more to stay connected include:

  • Double play (broadband and home phone) customers
  • Triple play (broadband, home phone and mobile phone services/TV.
  • Quad play ( a bundle of four services)

Speaking to the Irish Independent, an Eir spokesman defended the decision, and said customers will now get Eir Sport for free:

“We will migrate our existing broadband customers to the new bundles over the course of the summer.” he said.

“All impacted customers will receive a letter notifying them of the changes and customers have 30 days from receipt of the letter to decline the changes,”

“After these changes, our bundles remain very competitively priced compared to other offers in the market,”

Concerned customers are invited to contact Eir to find the most appropriate bundle based on their everyday usage patterns.
