Run by local activists, the group works to promote sustainability and environmental protection around the Galway Bay area..
"They include a Live Interactive Rockpool Aquarium, cookery demos from local chefs, talks on dolphins, oysters and traditional boat building – I know...very eclectic!" said Cuan Beo's Noreen Cassidy. The weekend's events kick off with '40 Years of Cruinniú na mBád'; a talk from festival chairman Michael Brogan tonight at 7pm on the Cuan Beo main stage.
Highlights from Saturday's lineup include cooking demonstrations by Trish Timmons and Marianne Krause and a talk from filmmakers Keith Walsh and Jill Beardsworth about the importance of film in environmental activism.
Sunday will see more cooking demos, a talk from Cóilín Hanlon on boatbuilding and a talk on dolphins and whales around Ireland, among other events.
The Cuan Beo marquee is located right at the water's edge so visitors will be able to enjoy all the activity on the bay all weekend.
