Planning ahead.

We are a week into August already, and much as schools in many countries worldwide, including Ireland, are planning to open for the new school year, many parents are still worried about how safe a return to school will be – and whether or not the schools will manage to stay open, or if they will close again.

And as parents globally are trying to plan ahead – because lord knows we were caught off guard when the schools shut their doors back in March – many are looking to Pinterest for ideas to create curriculums and home classroom setups. And whether it’s establishing a school routine at home or turning the kitchen into a science lab, Pinterest’ latest trend report shows that parents are all over it.

A lesson in homeschooling

Even the smallest of spaces have become designated learning zones, so parents are getting creative with their home layout—especially those with younger students who have shorter digital attention spans.

According to Pinterest, these searches are on the rise:

“Homeschool classroom setup”

“Homeschool organization

“1st grade homeschool curriculum”

Thinking outside the curriculum

“Unschooling,” a movement focused on self-directed learning, has taken off in certain parts of the US and also here in Europe. And this is why some parents are swapping out things like shop class for more “life lessons” to create a more holistic learning experience.

These searches are on the rise:

“Unschooling”

“Watercrafts for kids”

“Hot day activities for kids”
