It was because of a miracle that he was alive. Or.. perhaps it was because of his car seat.
This mum is sharing the picture of her little boy’s car seat after their car hit a patch of black ice and smashed into a tree in the US.
Kylee Barrett and her sons – five-year-old Kolton and 2-year-old Hunter – survived the accident and were treated for broken bones and cuts.
She believes that the photo shows how her children wouldn’t be alive if it wasn’t for their car seats.
Kylee, along with car safety campaigner, Heather Viers, is urging parents to check their car seats to ensure they are installed correctly. In this case, the little boy had a rear facing seat. But the women want parents everywhere to make sure all baby seats fit right and fit well.
“Tou don’t have to spend a fortune to keep your child safe. Get your car seats checked. Use it properly every.single.time. The life of your child relies on it.”

Here in Ireland, the RSA‘s advice to parents is this:
“A properly fitted child restraint system keeps the child in their seat, preventing them from being thrown about inside or being thrown from the vehicle. It also absorbs some of the impact force. This means that your child is much less likely to be killed or injured in a crash”
