This image of a mum breastfeeding while sitting on the toilet is causing quite a stir.
The picture of Elisha Wilson Beach, a mum of two and wife of TV actor Michael Beach, was originally posted on Instagram with the caption, “This is motherhood and it ain’t always pretty. What’s your #momtruth?” It was then shared on the Facebook page of Life of Dad, where it received a mixed response.
A vast majority of the comments were positive, like this one that read, “I find it so interesting that people have an issue with her breastfeeding in the bathroom of her own home, yet way too many people have the expectation that a woman should breastfeed in a bathroom in a public place.”
However, many criticised the mother for her approach to multitasking, with one comment reading, “That’s gross. I think a walking baby can wait to breastfeed until one is off the toilet. I mean would you eat your meal on the toilet?”
Breastfeeding aside, considering that a trip to the bathroom rarely takes place on your own when you’re a parent, I’m sure for many this scene is all too familiar. Whether or not the picture qualifies as oversharing, one thing’s for sure – it’s definitely a very real image of what life with kids can look like.
