10 new Disney movie names

See you later, Elsa.

(Just kidding – we are still crazy obsessed with Frozen!)

However – far from being stuck on names that have already skyrocketed in popularity, 2022 parents are looking ahead to the next big trend when selecting names for their little ones – and lucky for them, Disney is, as always, a place of major inspiration.

The past few years have seen the release of several new animated movies from the Disney studios, and these days, parents are loving the very international and unique names from movies like Encanto (set in Colombia), Coco (set in Mexico), Moana (set in Hawaii), Raya and the last Dragon (set in in fictional land of Kumandra, but heavily inspired by Southeast Asia) and Luca (set in Italy).

Waiting for a little 2022 baby? Here are some of the latest – and truly stunning – new Disney names to fall in love with:

1. Raya

Raya is the main character in Raya and the Last Dragon.

2. Bruno

Bruno is a major character in the latest Disney movie, Encanto, and has the ability to see into the future.

3. Guilia

Guilia is the leading female character in the Disney hit Luca – and a real feisty, girl-power-y kind of a gal.

4. Luca

Luca Paguro is a sea monster who turns human in the Disney movie of the same name.

5. Mirabel

Mirabel is the leading character in the latest Disney movie, Encanto. Portrayed as caring and quirky, Mirabel is the only member of the Madrigal family to not receive a special talent (the rest of her family all have some sort of magical power).

6. Massimo

Massimo Marcovaldo is a fisherman on the Italian Riviera, and also Guilia’s dad in the Disney movie Luca.

7. Isabela

Isabela Madrigal is one of the main characters from Disney’s Encanto. She is Mirabel’s sister, and as the eldest Madrigal grandchild, has always felt the pressure to be the perfect, beautiful child.

8. Oscar

Oscar is one of Miguel Rivera‘s great-great-great-uncles in the 2017 Disney movie, Coco. Miguel meets Oscar when he somehow accidentally ends up visiting the Land of the Dead.

9. Frida

When in the Land of the Dead, Miguel also meets up with famous Mexican feminist artist, Frida Kahlo – who is now living her best life as a colourful, skeletal spirit and ends up encouraging Miguel to follow his own dream of becoming a musician.

10. Sina

Sina is Moana’s mother in the 2016 Disney movie Moana. Sina is supportive of her daughter’s big ambitions – but also cautious as she wants to protect her from the big, bad word out there.
