This app promises to match you to your perfect sperm donor

Anna O'Rourke

We use apps for everything now, from ordering food to finding love, so why  not for baby-making?

That’s what the developers of Just A Baby are trying to do – the app has been launched to match strangers who want to have a baby.

“It’s easy to use: simply download the app, set up a profile and start swiping,” says Just A Baby’s website.

“Our users are matched with potential conception partners and can begin chatting… And, it’s free too – there are no charges to set up a profile, review or chat with other users.”

People already signed up to the app already include single men and women, straight and gay couples, and a number of individuals who just want to help by being a sperm or egg donor, according to the Daily Mail.

“We’re not delivering a baby, we’re not a stork service where we deliver babies off the shelf,” app co-founder Paul Ryan told the BBC.

“We make introductions between two people, and that’s where the real magic happens, between those two people.”

The app has been criticised by the British Fertility Society because of its lack of supports for people seeking to have children.
